Canada
Edmonton is home to approximately 800,000 Canadians. Edmonton is a cultural, governmental and educational centre. It hosts a year-round slate of festivals, reflected in the nickname "The Festival City." It is home to North America's largest mall, West Edmonton Mall (the world's largest mall from 1981 until 2004) and Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's largest living history museum. Economically it stages large scale oil sands projects and diamond mining projects. Sitting on the same latitude as Dublin, it experiences a humid continental climate. It sits on the North Sakatchewan River. Its river valley constitutes the largest stretch of connected urban parkland in North America, with the highest amount of parkland per capita of any Canadian city. It is another vibrant, thriving gem within Canada.
Alberta
So having covered the dream scenario let’s delve into a more typical Canadian destination where one may find work. According to the official Alberta website “With one of the strongest economies in Canada, welcoming and inclusive communities, world class health and educational facilities, and a wealth of recreational and cultural activities all year round, Alberta is truly a place of boundless opportunity and a great place to live, work and raise a family.” Again this province is as diverse as one can imagine. It experiences warm summers and cold winters thanks to its dry continental climate. The northern half is covered in boreal forest. In the south western corner there are forested rocky mountain ranges. The southern part consists of prairie lands. Finally the south eastern Badlands features deep canyons and striking land formations.
